Happy Easter!

I know it has been a long time since I last updated my blog. Since I went back to work, I just don't have enough time to do all the things I need or want to do. As a result, my blog has taken a back seat. I had today off for the Easter holiday, so for once I have a little extra time. So much has happened in the last couple months. There were so many times I thought to myself, "I need to put this on my blog." Well, the opportunities just haven't been there. Jacob turned 4 years old back in February. I took him for his 4 year check-up at the same time as Brennan's 4 month check-up (which surprisingly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be). Jacob was a real trooper with getting his shots. He wasn't happy about it, but he didn't cry real bad like I expected. He just kept asking me why that girl poked his legs. He was 43 inches tall (95th percentile) and weighed 47 pounds (75th percentile)! Combine that with his size 13.5 shoe. He is one big, solid boy! It has become quite difficult for me to carry him for longer than a couple minutes. He is just so long and heavy that I have a hard time getting my arms around him. He also is so smart that he leaves me speechless. I just don't know how to respond to some of the things he says! Of course, there also is the budding love for guns, swords, tools, and just about anything that he can use to hit things with. Not to mention his love for dirt, mud, water puddles, dinosaurs, and trucks.
Brennan appears to be following in his footsteps. His measurements at 4 months were almost exactly the same as Jacob's when he was 4 months old. When I weighed him a couple weeks ago, he weighed 16 lbs. His legs have gotten so chubby and full of rolls! I call him my chunky monkey. He smiles all the time, and he loves to snuggle. He will wrap his arms around my neck now, rub his eyes when he is getting tired, sit up by himself to play, squeal really loudly when excited, and he looks at me when I call his name. He also loves to play with Jacob. He watches him and seems to be studying and absorbing everything that Jacob does.
God truly has blessed me with two beautiful, healthy, and happy boys. I thank Him for them everyday. Some days I want to pull my hair out because taking care of two boys seems like more than I can handle, but we always make it through whatever the crisis of the moment is and learn from it.
I turned 37 in February, too. I do NOT like inching closer to 40. I can't keep from getting older every year, but I can make sure I don't look as old as I am! However, I have acquired several gray hairs over the last 6 months. C'est la vie!
This Easter was a special one for us. Brennan was baptized this weekend. Despite my mother's concerns, Jacob's christening gown that she made fit Brennan (Jacob was 3 months old when he was baptized, Brennan was 5 months old). We couldn't button the top button, and the sleeves were a smidgen short, but it looked gorgeous on him. In addition to Brennan's baptism, Jason was baptized. He has been a part of our church's RCIA program for 1 1/2 years now. At the Easter vigil mass on Saturday, he was baptized, received his first communion, and was confirmed! So, father and son were baptized together. It truly was a beautiful experience to witness. Needless to say, we spent most of Easter Sunday relaxing.
Here are a few pictures that I have taken over the last couple months.

Brennan sleeping when he was 3 months old.

Jacob and I opening his birthday presents at the family party we had for him.

The green dinosaur cake that I made for Jacob's birthday. This was the first time I made a character cake. It was quite difficult to ice. It turned out pretty good, though, and it tasted great.

Jacob holding Brennan on the couch. In case you can't tell, Jacob was trying to watch TV while he posed for the picture.
