Brennan appears to be following in his footsteps. His measurements at 4 months were almost exactly the same as Jacob's when he was 4 months old. When I weighed him a couple weeks ago, he weighed 16 lbs. His legs have gotten so chubby and full of rolls! I call him my chunky monkey. He smiles all the time, and he loves to snuggle. He will wrap his arms around my neck now, rub his eyes when he is getting tired, sit up by himself to play, squeal really loudly when excited, and he looks at me when I call his name. He also loves to play with Jacob. He watches him and seems to be studying and absorbing everything that Jacob does.
God truly has blessed me with two beautiful, healthy, and happy boys. I thank Him for them everyday. Some days I want to pull my hair out because taking care of two boys seems like more than I can handle, but we always make it through whatever the crisis of the moment is and learn from it.
I turned 37 in February, too. I do NOT like inching closer to 40. I can't keep from getting older every year, but I can make sure I don't look as old as I am! However, I have acquired several gray hairs over the last 6 months. C'est la vie!
This Easter was a special one for us. Brennan was baptized this weekend. Despite my mother's concerns, Jacob's christening gown that she made fit Brennan (Jacob was 3 months old when he was baptized, Brennan was 5 months old). We couldn't button the top button, and the sleeves were a smidgen short, but it looked gorgeous on him. In addition to Brennan's baptism, Jason was baptized. He has been a part of our church's RCIA program for 1 1/2 years now. At the Easter vigil mass on Saturday, he was baptized, received his first communion, and was confirmed! So, father and son were baptized together. It truly was a beautiful experience to witness. Needless to say, we spent most of Easter Sunday relaxing.
Here are a few pictures that I have taken over the last couple months.
Jacob with one of his new birthday presents and birthday cake on his face.
Jacob and I opening his birthday presents at the family party we had for him.
The green dinosaur cake that I made for Jacob's birthday. This was the first time I made a character cake. It was quite difficult to ice. It turned out pretty good, though, and it tasted great.
Jacob holding Brennan on the couch. In case you can't tell, Jacob was trying to watch TV while he posed for the picture.
