Since we were expecting another baby, we had to start thinking about where to put him. Ideally, as I have mentioned before, a new, bigger house would solve the problem in a jiffy. However, that new, bigger house has eluded us even after 2 years of searching. So, the next best choice was to convert Jacob's toddler bed back into a crib and leave his room as a nursery. He had pretty much outgrown the toddler bed anyway because he is so tall. With the problem of where to put the new baby solved, we had to decide where to put Jacob...lol. We decided to turn Devyn's room into Jacob AND Devyn's room. To ease the transition, I thought painting the walls green would get him excited about moving to a big boy room. With green walls in mind, I searched for bedding that would look great and hopefully withstand my brute of a son. Jason and I found matching antique mahogany twin beds from the 1930's that were in mint condition on Craigslist from a house in the Garden District. We moved his table and chairs and his toy storage shelves into the room.
Here is Jacob's bed with his favorite stuffed animals.
Here is Devyn's bed with his swamp scene picture, the fish (above the headboard) that he caught out of Nana & Pop Pop's pond, and the fish that Paw Paw caught (at the foot of the bed).
Jacob's Parain (Uncle Timmy) made him a bookshelf (at my request) that we could hang on the wall to store his books and pictures. Jason stained it to match the furniture. It also has hooks under the bottom shelf to hang his backpack and his hats.
He loves his room! Getting him to sleep in his bed all night was a challenge for the first few weeks, but he has gotten used to it and is doing much better with sleeping in a big boy bed.
Now all that is left to do to complete the room is a window treatment--Nana is working on that--on the window, and the Noah's Ark that I am sewing for Jacob to be finished and hung on the wall above his bed!
